Why were pensions increased?

In 2025, pensions could once again be increased. Retirees and former employees with a pension at SSPF received an increase of 2.8%.

This increase is called indexation. It helps prevent pensions from losing value when prices rise. Whether pensions can be increased depends on the fund’s financial position. SSPF remained financially strong in 2025, which made another pension increase possible. SSPF is fully up to date with all indexations. There are no indexation arrears.

From 2027 onwards, this system will change. SSPF will then no longer offer a fixed pension benefit with indexation. Under the new pension scheme, a personal pension pot will move more in line with investment returns and interest rates. Other factors also affect how a pension pot develops over time.
